Athletic: Milan express interest in Spurs academy graduate but club and player are reluctant

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s interest in signing defender Japhet Tanganga from Tottenham Hotspur has been confirmed by another source, but it will not be easy to convince them to part with him.

According to what is being reported by The Athletic, Spurs will make a decision on the future of the England U21 international week with Milan having come forward and expressed interest in signing him given their desperate need to recruit a new central defender.

The Spurs academy graduate would rather stay in north London and fight for a spot but with both Eric Dier and Cristian Romero returning from injury soon and Davinson Sanchez above him in the hierarchies, his playing time could be very limited.

The report adds that Spurs are ‘reluctant’ to let the 22-year-old leave, but there is interest from the Premier League in signing him and also other clubs playing in Serie A.
