MN: Milan aim to follow Thiaw deal with another Bundesliga signing – deal ‘almost there’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are closing in on finally signing a central midfielder after weeks of speculation and separate negotiations, a report claims.

MilanNews journalist Antonio Vitiello writes in his column that Renato Sanches was the number one target for the midfield department and if the interest of PSG had not emerged then the Rossoneri would have signed him without problems.

The alternatives to the Portuguese international did not fully convince, so the management decided to focus on a young prospect, namely Aster Vranckx of Wolfsburg.

The 19-year-old is seen by the management as a good midfielder when it comes to defending the ball, pressing and also in making penetrating runs. The Belgian will still have to grow but he has been highly thought of ‘for years’.

Milan have not yet closed the deal just yet but they are ‘almost there’, with the operation likely to be a loan with option to buy set at €12m. The final details must be resolved to conclude the deal.
