AC Milan will hire a new head coach in the summer, and it seems as though the picture is not as clear as it may have initially seemed.
Sergio Conceicao’s time as the Milan head coach seems increasingly likely to be ending at the end of the season. However, there is no idea about who or what could replace him. Though this is largely due to the lack of a sporting director.
As SportMediaset (via Milan News) write, the sporting director situation has left the management ‘diversified’. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already recommended Igli Tare to Gerry Cardinale, and whilst Giorgio Furlani, who would prefer Fabio Paratici, now holds the power, it remains to be seen whether Ibrahimovic’s reference will hold weight.
As a result, there is no set plan about the style in which the Rossoneri want to pursue. The two choices may have very different ideas for the footballing model in place, and how to achieve it. For example, one may want to attack the future, whilst the other may want a year of stabilisation.
Because of this confusion, the choice of head coach remains to be made, with the report even stating that there is no full support for either of the leading candidates, Antonio Conte or Massimiliano Allegri.
The reasoning here is (again) shallow.
Assertion by article: “We must know the coach b/f we can get players to suit the style”
Observation of fact: Conte has been successful with a 433 and 4312 this season even though we thought he could/would only play three in the back.
IMO a required element of the identikit for a coach/manager is knowing how to get the most out of the squad he has. Any coach – at this level – who is unable to get the most from the talent already on our roster is not a coach we want to hire.
While personally not a fan of either Allegri or Conte, I do believe they both exhibit this element.
Move along, nothing to see here but more opinions/analysis I’d expect of a 10 year old.
A good SD who knows what he’s doing will retain Conceicao
Only if Conceição wins the Coppa Italia and finish top 4. Otherwise it would make sense to change and get someone like Italiano, Di Zerbi or Farioli.
Conte, Allegri and Sarri are all dinosaurs in football who can’t adapt to change.
