MN: Milan unlikely to sign Okafor replacement as other issue takes precedent – the situation

AC Milan wrapped up yet another sale this morning, but unlike previous ones there are no plans to spend on a replacement.

MilanNews confirms that Noah Okafor will join Leeds in a permanent deal, with the Premier League side paying around €20m for the former Salzburg player. The Swiss had a residual book value of €9.3m, so the capital gain will be around €11m.

What happens now?

Will Okafor be replaced? According to the report, Milan are not currently planning on buying a winger in the final days of the summer transfer window, because the directors will focus their efforts solely on a new striker.

In this regard, new contacts have been made with the entourage of Dusan Vlahovic. He will leave Juventus, but they want €20m for a permanent sale, a figure that would allow them to avoid a capital loss on him.

Negotiations are underway with the Serbian player and his entourage regarding his salary (he currently earns €12m at Juventus) and commissions. In addition to Vlahovic, Milan are also considering other options.

Rasmus Hojlund is one of them but the option has become more complicated in recent hours after Napoli entered the running following Romelu Lukaku’s injury. Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson also remains on Tare’s list, but the Blues would have to sanction a loan.

  1. It seems every customer gets his desired goods at Milan. Money and cash inflow is essential but as a football club with history, grace and prestige we shouldn’t just sell and sell. Okafor showed promising signs during pre-season and I strongly believe he will be a good deputy for Leao. What next now? Replace him? What ever they do, with all due respect please leave Nicolas Jackson alone.

    1. You strongly believe that Okafor would have been a good deputy for Leao?
You realize that Okafor was at Milan for the last 2 seasons, not just the last 2 weeks of pre-season when he showed promising signs.

    2. We sold the back up to the back up for 20m.

A player often injured. A player unfit for half of last season.

And Tare got 20m (not 8m, not a free transfer).

I think your crystal ball or rabiot (pun intended) entrails may need some IT support Mr Prophet sir.

      1. Tare got. Napoli had an option to buy at 25M. So obviously his valuation was around 20M, with or without Tare. Some of you are writing like everything that happens is because of Tare. In reality Leeds was interested in him and Milan will probably get 15+5 he does good. His valuation is around 15M.

    3. I agree with you regarding Jackson. I feel the same way about Hojlund. Yes, they both managed to be strikers for “storied” EPL teams, but they were both guilty of wasting FAR more opportunities than they took, and will cost an arm and a leg for the pleasure.

Don’t understand why we loaned-out Camarda, and I would do my best to see what it would take to get Esposito (even if he is on Inter’s books).

    1. That has sailed. He will see minutes there and started well. They had to pull that trigger early in the window when there was seeds of doubt to harvest on Liverpool and the player’s end.

  2. Okafor isn´t a bad player, but not good enough for a club with grace and prestige like Milan. Modric, Ricci and Jashari are, so they´re doing exactly what a club like Milan needs to do. That does involve selling.

  3. For once we had a mercato without hearing the names Furlani et al…peace, perfect peace, allowing the SD and coach to work in silence. Let’s hope they will finish strongly…I am just not convince with the names making the rounds recently (Jackson, Hojlund)…not inspiring. Let’s wait and see…

    1. Selling Okafor is a bad move, questions really need to be asked about the conduct of this management, he has the potential to be a very good and powerful player, we sell him and leave Chukweze, that’s nonsense, besides Milan has now turned into a supermarket, this team needs stability, not chopping and changing every six months…my 35 year affair with this club is honestly in the end credits…..

  4. I wonder if we could make a move Rodrigo? Rodrigo needs to leave RM.

We have the capital. Could we meet him somewhere on wages? Maybe 200k per week?

    Fun to consider.

    1. 😂😂😂 I guess it’s Milan market place now. We still have some versatility in the team to cover, but we definitely need one more striker before the transfer window closes.

  5. @Milan Matters, thank you for directly referring to me, but by grace I don’t do crystal balls and the likes as my faith is in Christ Jesus alone. Your opinion about Okafor is correct, he has struggled with injuries and he’s not been consistent as expected but: he should have been left to create some sort of balance in the team. I love Rodrigo! Bt I sincerely doubt he would join Milan in our current condition. Even if we are literally next to Madrid historically (we been stuck at 7 champions league titles since 2007) the minimum standard for a player like Rodrigo will be at least participation in the champions league…I also feel if management is reluctant to get Vlahovic due to his wages, they would dread thinking about Rodrigo..all the same I’m just hopeful, forza Milan!!! Jesus Christ loves you all

  6. 21mil for Okafor is a good deal considering he was always a bench option, rarely used. Add that to the striker’s budget and bring in a respectable CF or a better CB.
