GdS: Milan very close to securing renewal of star defender but another meeting is needed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are determined to avoid previous mistakes by locking down their most prized players long-term, and Fikayo Tomori is close to renewing.

With players such as Donnarumma, Calhanoglu, Kessie and Romagnoli all leaving for free, there had to be a change in approach from the management and La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) report that Tomori will sign his renewal very soon until 2027.

The English central defender joined on an initial six-month loan spell from Chelsea and was bought permanently for €28m in the summer of 2021 after becoming an essential member of Stefano Pioli’s starting XI in a very quick time.

Yesterday, Tomori’s agent arrived at Casa Milan to discuss the renewal and increase of Tomori’s salary, and while another meeting between the parties will be needed, an agreement is very close and therefore pen on paper is expected soon. As mentioned, the contract deadline should shift by two years, from 2025 to 2027.
