AC Milan’s new sporting director Igli Tare has spoken with the agents of Mike Maignan and has presented a renewal offer.
Maignan’s current deal expires in just over 12 months which means a natural crossroads has emerged. The management must either extend his deal to keep the captain at the club or sell this summer, to avoid the risk of losing him on a free in 2026.

Tare meets Maignan’s entourage
According to Nicolo Schira, Tare has spoke with Maignan’s agents in the last few hours. Milan are now waiting for an answer regarding their proposal to extend the contract until 2028, therefore pushing the deadline back two years.
There are no further specifics regarding the salary that has been put forward nor the will of the player, but it is certainly a concrete step by the director who is just a few days into his new role.

Maignan’s importance to the dressing room is well established given that he wears the captain’s armband and has done since Sergio Conceicao arrived. His form was up and down in the first few months of 2024-25, but he ended the season strongly.
It remains to be seen whether Milan will put forward a take-it-or-leave-it offer to the Frenchman, so they can potentially move on and begin planning for the mercato with more clarity.

Two articles ago he was being sold. This is why you shouldn’t react to any headlines. Until contracts are signed, believe nothing.
Don’t tell Ted
Don’t worry about me, I’m just taking every chance I get to pi*s on this ownership and trigger nancies like you on the way.
🤣🤣 I cannot stand them. The ownership and management are in a compromised position now. Their philosophy has been blown out the water and they are forced to put that nonsense to bed. They are obliged to invest and bypass the addition by subtraction method, or financial sustainability of selling off or loosing our best assets for nothing.
Hope tare will stop sale of tijji to man city ….. THIS IS MADNESS ….. tare will be judged by this. IF TIJJI GOES, tare will show he is worthless.
Not really, that decision came from the top so point your finger to Greaseball Gerry. However, Tare will be judged on how he’s going to re-invest the proceeds from Tijji’s sale. Allegri will probably play a role in this as well.
