GdS: Milan want to continue with Pioli and Giroud – extensions planned for both

The AC Milan management are working to renew the contracts of two figures that have been at the forefront of the resurgence and played a big part in the Scudetto win.

As reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the contracts of head coach Stefano Pioli and striker Olivier Giroud both expire in 2023 and the management plan to extend the agreements at least until the summer of 2024.

Both Pioli and Giroud arrived at Milanello amid skepticism but both have already written a page in the history of Milan. Pioli led the Rossoneri to the Champions League and earned a 19th league title, while the Frenchman was decisive with his goals and played a big hand in the title win.

Pioli currently has a winning percentage at Milan worth more than 60%, with 87 games won out of a total of 152. After the renewal signed at the end of November 2021, the option for the following season could be exercised during the World break.

Giroud meanwhile has started 42 matches and has scored 20 goals when playing from the first minute. Being with the Diavolo also helped him to regain a spot in the French national team, which is why he is expected at Casa Milan after the World Cup in Qatar to sign an extension.
