Reports: Milan likely to sign a CB with potential in January – Montpellier starlet tops the list

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are likely to sign a young centre-back before the window shuts if indeed a new defender does arrive at all, according to a report.

After having fleshed out the attack with the purchase of the young Lazetic, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that Milan could implement a similar strategy in signing a centre-back given they have been unable to break down Lille’s resistance in selling Sven Botman.

Now, the management could turn to a very young profile to be signed as early as January, so that he can learn from those currently in the department and can become a very important resource in the future.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) also reports that a large investment has been postponed until the summer, so a young defensive signing cannot be ruled out and the profile that best suits this type of operation is that of 19-year-old Maxime Estève of Montpellier.

Finally, Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com reports that Milan decided to close the deal for Marko Lazetic on Sunday and with it several targets for the defence disappeared because the final non-EU spot is taken. The most likely situation is that ‘a young prospect will arrive’, he reports.
