Journalist claims Milan are ‘seeing if Ziyech will lower his €6m salary’

By Euan Burns -

Italian journalist Alessandro Sugoni has said that AC Milan are waiting to see if Hakim Ziyech will lower his salary demands for them to sign him.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport (via Milan News), Sugoni discussed the current state of Milan’s chase for various stars as they look to make up for lost time.

Now that Milan have finally extended the contract of technical director Paolo Maldini and sporting director Frederic Massara, they are able to push ahead more definitively with the deals that they want to execute.

One of the priorities is to sign Ziyech on loan from Chelsea with an agreed fee to buy him permanently next summer. Sugoni says that they may need the Moroccan to lower his wage demands.

“We are trying to understand the feasibility of the deal, of this negotiation. In the meantime by seeing if the player is willing to lower his €6 million net salary per season.

“Chelsea have opened negotiations with AC Milan, let’s say that these signals give hope. It then remains to be seen under what conditions they can let the player go, the hope is that the Blues give Ziyech the same treatment as Lukaku.”

Sugoni also added that there are other names on the list that are of interest should they not be able to sign the former Ajax attacker, but Ziyech is the priority right now.

“Other names also remain, such as Berardi and De Ketelaere, but Ziyech is a player that intrigues a lot and it is not the first time that Milan have thought about him.”

  1. Not sure how we can compete with Europes best if we always ask players to take pay cuts to come play for us. Great if it works on occasion but what happens when our star players like Theo Leao Tomori Mike Tonali etc.. ask for more? Guess we will sell them like we did with Gigio and Kessie and look for a cheaper alternatives. Smart business strategy from a profit prospective (i.e., Atalanta model) I guess – not so much for the fans – as it means it will be difficult to take that next leap in quality and build a consistent winner of we are constantly selling on players just when they hit their peak.

  2. Chelsea will pay his salary too on his loan to AC Milan . No problem about salary . If he have bad performance just return him to chelsea. If good then activate buy option ,simple choice

    1. No, they would want a loan wit obligation seeing how Chelsea conduct their business. but i guess now Milan can bet on it knowing that Granovskaia has left

      1. Their new owner are american too, and have relation with redbird. It will be not hard to ask loan with option consider ziyech not used on chelsea next season plan
