AC Milan are not just in danger of being left behind in the Scudetto race but also the top four battle after yet more dropped points last night.
As Calciomercato.com recall, Milan did not manage to do better than a 0-0 draw against a patched-up Juventus side and left the pitch to a chorus of jeers and whistles. Paulo Fonseca’s side really needed a win to get back into the Scudetto discussion, and instead could end the weekend in ninth.
For the first time this season, the entire stadium expressed in a visible manner their dissatisfaction with a team totally incapable of creating any dangerous chances. It was a clear show of discontent that can only be mended with wins.
At present, this is a team ‘lacking ideas and soul’. While the coach continues to talk about targeting the Scudetto, the top six continue to get further away. Milan have just 19 points from 12 games, with the Champions League places – the minimum objective set by the management – six points away.
The factor that worries most is the lack of determination shown on the field by the key players: instead of setting a high standard, the likes of Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez continue to go missing when needed most.
The jeers from the fans must be a wake-up call, because the Rossoneri seem to be taking one step forward with wins like against Inter and Real Madrid, but then two steps back.
