ML: Milan are struggling without Ibrahimovic and Kjaer – youngsters need leadership

AC Milan have always been able to regroup and get out of tough periods, but it’s seemingly a bit more difficult for them now. And perhaps the absence of both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Simon Kjaer is behind this.

Kjaer will be out for the rest of the season due to the knee injury he suffered in the first half of the season, while Ibrahimovic is aiming to be back for the Napoli game. Having said that, their absence has been felt lately.

As highlighted by MilanLive, the last few games have been far from brilliant by Milan and it seems their mentality, as well as confidence, has taken a huge hit. Ibrahimovic and Kjaer are the veterans of the team and the duo have been present since the upswing from January 2020.

It’s not hard to understand, therefore, why their absences are weighing on the Rossoneri. With Kjaer at the back, Mian conceded an average of 0.7 goals per game. Since December, meanwhile, they have conceded 0.9 goals per game.

As for Ibrahimovic, while the stat for points collected is better without him, Milan haven’t found the back of the net as much without him. Above all, though, the leadership is missing from both of these players, who usually are very present and want to lead this young Milan side.
