ML: Probable Milan XI to face Shamrock Rovers – all eyes on the striker and left wing positions

By Oliver Fisher -

The countdown has begun to AC Milan’s first competitive match of the 2020-21 campaign as Thursday’s visit to Shamrock Rovers looms.

The Rossoneri will kick off the new season with a second round Europa League qualifying match in Dublin at 20:00 CEST, and as MilanLive notes the spotlight is on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has missed the last two friendlies against Vicenza and Brescia.

The Swede – as we know – was out due to a bruised right leg, but at Milanello there is no concern at the moment with the coaching staff confident he will be available for the trip to Ireland.

Ibrahimovic has often trained in the gym on his own, aiming to be ready for Thursday’s game, and unless there is a shock twist he will be on the pitch from the first minute against Shamrock.

The report adds that there are very few doubts for the rest of the team. The defence will be composed of Calabria, Kjaer, Gabbia and Theo Hernandez, with Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal.

The Kessie-Bennacer midfield pairing will be used again, while Castillejo will be on the right and Calhanoglu as the No.10. In terms of the left wing, Saelemaekers did not fully convince in that position and for this reason Brahim Diaz or Daniel Maldini could start there.

Probable Milan (4-2-3-1_: Donnarumma, Calabria, Kjaer, Gabbia, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Kessie; Castillejo, Calhanoglu, Saelemaekers (Diaz/Maldini); Ibrahimovic.
