AC Milan will welcome back a hugely important component to their starting line-up today as Ismael Bennacer appears to have fully recovered.
The midfielder has been battling injury problems all season and as MilanLive writes, he has missed 16 Serie A matches so far in the current campaign as well as two in the Coppa Italia and three in the Europa League. Muscle problems did not allow him to make the contribution he hoped to, but the final 10 games of the season give him the perfect opportunity to make up for lost time.
The Algeria international has made 21 appearances and has 4 this season, but it is more the effect on the team overall which is startling. With Bennacer on the pitch Milan won 14 matches (one on penalties with Rio Ave), have drawn 5 and lost 2 (Lille and Spezia). Without him, the results are as follows: 12 wins, 4 draws and 5 defeats.
From a playing point of view, the 23-year-old is fundamental to the mechanisms of the midfield because he knows how to dictate the pace of play, knows how to manage the ball well and how to advance at the right time. He is also a midfielder who does not hold back when it is necessary to intervene, hence why he has recovered so many balls.
