One of the things that AC Milan must be very attentive about during tomorrow night’s Champions League clash is the propensity that Bayer Leverkusen have when it comes to scoring late goals.
As MilanNews report, the arrival of Xabi Alonso changed everything at Leverkusen as he removed the label of them being a losing team by not only winning the Bundesliga but doing so by going unbeaten, and they did so thanks to some emerging stars like Victor Boniface, Florian Wirtz and more.
What was striking about the team, beyond the evident quality of their play and the fact they scored goals in bunches, is how they were able to overturn some very difficult situations with an unusual frequency.
Countless matches were decided in the final minutes, to the extent that it goes beyond any kind of luck or coincidence and is rather a demonstration that Alonso’s side never give up, they have a physical edge and plenty of quality to call upon.
Below are all the games since the start of last season in which Die Werkself scored goals after the 90th minute:

These guys score a lot but also concede a lot. They can be had. Whether or not Milan can do it remains to be seen.
I had this game as a tie best case scenario.
I’m not expecting us to pull a surprise like Atalanta did, but I think we should go there with the intention to win.
Now I’m not gonna fool myself, Bayer is probably a better team than us and a draw would be an acceptable result.
“These guys score a lot but also concede a lot.” For a moment there I thought u were talking about us. That statement is easily what we were last year but somehow better than the year before. Now it’s a major weakness we can exploit on an opposing team hmmm 🤔 go figure
Leverkusen surely has played a lot against Qarabag in recent years.
Milan were underdog for this match. But thats good, so we can play nothing to lose.
Fonseca just have to ‘fire’ the team, just like derby.
But my concern is our subs. If the winning team must to be change, then the subs must be good as the main team.
And players like Jovic, Chuk, Okafor, and RLC is not enough.
Maybe in January we must offload Jovic and Chuk first
I dont know about Chuk or RLC but Okafor and Jovic have been among the most proliric subs off the bench in the whole of Europe last year. Our bench last year from a production standpoint was quite good. I think ppl just want starting quality player off the bench but that’s an oxymoron in and of itself
True, man
