MN: Bennacer suffers another thigh problem as Pioli suggests period of absence is on the cards

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer appears to have suffered a relapse of the thigh muscle problem he recently recovered from, a report claims.

The Algeria international made his second start since the 2-2 draw against Parma in early December during which he sustained a muscle problem. His recovery process was long and Milan have certainly felt his absence on the pitch.

There was a big worry for Milan ahead of Sunday’s derby against Inter as Bennacer limped off in the latter stages of the first half with what looked like another thigh problem. Sandro Tonali came on in his place and had a solid game, but with important fixtures on the horizon it is a big blow.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, Bennacer once again left the field having complained of a muscle problem in the flexor muscle of his right thigh.

After the game, Pioli suggested he is worried about another period of absence for the former Empoli man.

“The really sore point is his relapse. We thought we had done everything to be safe, but instead he felt something. Too bad, he’s a boy who was growing up and now he’s sorry that he has to stop again,” he said (via MilanLive).
