MN: Captain Romagnoli sends a message to Milan – he wants to stay and a new deal is likely

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli was criticised by some after a shaky return from injury, but he continues to prove his doubters wrong.

As MilanNews reports, Romagnoli was able to help guide a young and inexperience team-mate in Pierre Kalulu through a difficult game against Lazio, with the tough task of keeping Ciro Immobile quiet.

Against Sassuolo and Lazio, Romagnoli quietly put his signature on the six points that the Rossoneri management to obtain. It is remarkable to think that the Italy international is now 25 years old and has been at Milan for half a decade is scary.

In the post-match, when interviewed by Sky Italia, the former Roma defender sent a message to the club regarding his future: “I hope to do another 200 games with Milan. Renewal? You have to ask the management, I have a contract until 2022, it’s still long, we’ll see.”

MilanNews add that for obvious reasons, the management are focusing first on the most difficult cases, namely Donnarumma and Calhanoglu, but it is clear that they will soon turn their attentions to players like Romagnoli. The desire to stay, as his words testify, is clear, but the chances of continuing together beyond 2022 are quite high.
