MN: Dalot hoping to follow Theo Hernandez after arrival from Man Utd – the battle on the right

By Oliver Fisher -

Diogo Dalot will be hoping for an impact similar to the one that Theo Hernandez had upon his arrival at AC Milan, a report claims.

As MilanNews notes, Theo arrived from Real Madrid in summer 2019 and initially was behind Ricardo Rodriguez in the pecking order, but he finally overtook the Swiss international and seized his place, which he has since not relinquished.

Towards the end of the most recent summer window, the Rossoneri management closed a deal for Dalot, who arrived on loan from Manchester United. He is predominantly a right-back but can also play left-back if needed, though thoughts are instantly gravitated towards the idea that he could replace Davide Calabria should the 23-year-old have a wobble in form.

The Calabria seen in the first part of the season would be difficult to replace, but it is logical to expect Calabria to start with Dalot as an alternative. If the Portuguese impresses, then it is better for Milan as there will be more competition.

At the moment, it seems to be bad news for Andrea Conti though, as he is still out injured and doesn’t look to be any higher than third choice in the pecking order on the right.
