MN: Probable Milan XI for Monza clash – battle between Florenzi and Kalulu

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will take on Monza in Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi on Tuesday evening and Stefano Pioli is expected to field a strong XI. Compared to the game against Barcelona, the manager could make one change.

In the last two fridnlis, Pioli has relied on the same starting XI and it’s clear that he already has a pretty good idea of what it could look like in the opener against Bologna. Against Monza, he’s set to continue on the same path.

According to MilanNews, the only battle is between Alessandro Florenzi and Pierre Kalulu for the right-back spot. Should Pioli opt for the Frenchman, then he would make one change compared to the game against Barcelona.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Kalulu/Florenzi, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo; Loftus-Cheek, Krunic, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.

Pioli will also have Samuel Chukwueze, Yunus Musah and Noah Okafor at his disposal for the game. The latter was also in the US with the team but he hadn’t trained with the group up until today’s afternoon session at Milanello.

    1. Agreed. We already know what we have in Florenzi. Give Kalulu the minutes. Seems we are looking for a CB (Estivee, Kabak) so that means Pioli will use Kalulu as a RB. Give him the minutes. Also put in Musah for Krunic and Chukwueze for Pulisic and we have our starting 11:

      Leao Giroud Chukuweze
      Reijders Musah RLC
      Theo Tomori Thiaw Kalulu
      Mike

      1. Suspendons cette 4 33 jusqu’à ce que ce krunic soit remplacé sinon ça ne marchera pas à mon avis. On est pas protégé il faut un stopper parmi ces milieux.

      2. Musah & Chuk are fresh off the boat. I’m sure Pioli will throw them on in the second half. Krunic is a transitional figure and Puli has already played in this lineup. But I’m excited to see Chuk play.

    2. RB should be between Kalulu and SaladMaster. Not sure how Flo-Flo is even an option. Weren’t we trying to move on from him?

  1. 4-2-1-3 the best formation to be as follow,
    Mag
    Kalulu – thiaw , tomori – theo
    Rlc – rejd
    Pulisic
    Chekw – giroud – leo

    1. I basically agree with your comment..4-2-1 -3
      Mag
Kalulu – thiaw ,tomori – Theo
      Rlc – rejd ?
      Pulisic
      Chekw Giroud – leao
      I also predict the score 4 – 1 ….Giroud to score twice ..
It does look an exciting line up

    2. It’s looking more like we needed to sign Kamada afterall for dept purposes, I really hope it works out for Pioli cus if he returns to this formation we’d be lacking experience depth in the AM position, it wouldn’t have killed to sign the dude before the whole Soap operas. Just saying

  2. The day Krunic is at fenerbahce is the day I genuinely believe we can have a good midfield because as long as he’s here he’s being started

  3. Pioli has already stated that Kalulu is a cB. What is all this back and forth. Sale is a option for the RB. Florenzi won’t play much,so Salad man is the buck up

      1. Saelemaekers has definitely played as a right back and did well. He even has played there at Anderlecht and the Belgian national team. In one of the latest games of the Red Devils he played as a left back but that didn’t go so well because he’s used to playing on the right.

          1. He did play in RB on his few first games on his first spell (still on loan) with Milan. On these last pre season matches, it’s pretty clear too that he’s fielded on RB post as a substitute.

  4. I lost word for Piolis stubbornness by keeping krunic as starter.
Krunic needs to leave ASAP and he can take Pioli with him as well..

  5. Why would we start Krunic if we’re getting rid of him?

I mean I know we’ve played quite a few players this and most preseasons who were not going to play for us during the actual season. But hey it’s only preseason, we can probably just skip it altogether and focus on the transfer market.

    1. It’s an expected line up. And could change. We don’t have many others to pick on. In addition, since it’s a friendly, he may really only pay 45 minutes with large numbers of subs at the break.

Give it a rest and stop complaining about single thing. The preseason still matters for most players who are staying. Or else they won’t be in better fitness once the season starts.

      You should know better.

      1. Pobega could play instead or even a youth team player heaven forbid!

Or points to a general lack of focus and happens every preseason.

But don’t worry this god forsaken transfer window will be shut soon and I can stop complaining about it and instead get into arguments with people when I defend the very players I didn’t want signed in the first place!

        Or pintos

  6. Kalulu is a pure diamond…a joungster have shown tremendeous build up in the last two years.Krunić is of no use for longer time…it is a wonder how a guy like him made up to move to AC Milan.I just hope he’ll move on,and we shall not lose our time in comments on him anymore.Florenzi is a clown, nice guy, funny character…but that’s all.To let Kalulu sit on bench an watch Florenzi making theater it’s pervers. After longer time AC Milan has competitive Team….it’s time tu put those child games with Krunić,Florenzi,Messias, etc. behind, and start with champion level again. We have more then enough material for it this year…FORZA MILAN!

  7. The team is too unbalanced. We need one of the wingback to be a purely defensive player that does not go upfront. We suffer negative transitions, by replacing Tonali and Benaccer with Rejnders and Lotus Cheek you are probably better off offensively but for sure worst defensively. Kalulu should be starting right back and we need a very strong defensive, both physically and tactically. Not sure Musah can be that player. Man City won UCL with 4 center backs + Rodri!
