MN: Five do-or-die games for Milan – Ibra’s attitude needed to reverse the downward spiral

By Oliver Fisher -

With five games remaining until the end of what has been a long and arduous campaign, AC Milan are required to summon some spirit again.

As MilanNews writes, you could argue that the Rossoneri are in a position that they should be or even would like to have been before the season began: in third place (fifth at the moment but with head-to-head over Napoli) joint on 66 points with them and Juventus.

There is still time to recover but there has definitely been a downward trend compared to the first half of the season, something which certainly cannot make staff and fans happy, but Pioli’s team have technical and tactical certainties consolidated from months played at the highest level.

Even against Lazio for example Milan were always quite proactive and this is demonstrated by the many scoring opportunities they created but did not take. In addition to injuries and foreseeable physical fatigue, what seems to be lacking is an ability to overcome fear and to win.

The pressure is there and it is a boulder that hangs over the Rossoneri’s head, but their season finale must be full of character and personality. In short, an Ibrahimovic-esque attitude is needed and on Saturday he will be back to lead his troops again.
