MN: Injuries mean Milan want new players in three areas of the squad

The increase in injuries at AC Milan means that the club wants to sign new players for three different areas of the squad in the coming transfer windows, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News, there is a major desire for more depth in the defence in the wake of Pierre Kalulu’s long-term injury and the problem that Marco Pellegrino suffered against Napoli.

Jan-Carlo Simic is expected to come into the first team for the upcoming fixtures as another option, but there is also a focus on the need for a new striker either in January or the summer.

Jonathan David from Lille appears to be the favoured option right now, but a move would almost certainly have to wait until the summer.

Finally, depth behind Theo Hernandez at left-back is needed and that is most likely to be Juan Miranda, who could feasibly join from Real Betis in January.

  1. At the end of the day, I think that we would benefit from bringing in an experienced defender in January, even if only on loan, but I also kind of hope that Simic comes in and just kills it when he gets his chances and convinces everyone that he is the solution.

    1. What’s the point of Simic if we aren’t prepared to give him a chance now?

Why wait for a probably non-existent future for the kid (given we’ll keep signing endless CBs every few months) when he can play now?

  2. David would be a good signing next summer.

If we sign a CB and LB (which will take the squad to 31) what will happen to Pellegrino?

Was his little cameo against Napoli the end for him?

And presumably Bartesaghi will now become a journeyman loaned to out endlessly until he’s lost all hope?

  3. We rushed to sell Ballo knowing we fully well didn’t trust our back up left back. And rushed to sell Gabbia to bring in what supposed to be low risk high reward now turned high risk low reward in Pellegrino. All these are decisions we have to live with.

  4. What is not talked about enough is that this a problem haunting us 10 years now and pretty unrelated to whoever is coach.
We need to take another serious look at the medical staff and if that doesn‘t help consider things like getting new training grounds.
