MN: Lille midfielder’s name re-emerges as Milan ponder signing for two reasons

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could choose to strengthen in all three departments this January, a report claims, with the midfield not to be excluded from that.

Anto Vitiello has given a market update to MilanNews in which he mentions that there could also be some movements in the holding midfield department, where head coach Stefano Pioli has expressed a desire to have four starter-level players.

Rade Krunic is the fourth choice at present and based on recent performances he does not seem suitable for the role of defensive midfielder because he has other characteristics.

Therefore at the moment it is down to Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali to protect the back foor, but as soon as one of them stops due to injury or disqualification, Milan are on edge.

Bennacer will be out for a month and has already had other problems in the previous weeks, so all the weight of the next games will fall on Kessie (who is one booking away from suspension) and Tonali.

Therefore, the management are starting to rekindle the idea of signing a player in that role. Boubakary Soumarè of Lille – already sought after in the summer – is a name that could return to the world in January, the report concludes.
