MN: Lyon send scouts to watch Milan midfielder but Pioli’s stance is clear

By Oliver Fisher -

Lyon have come forward an expressed an interest in Rade Krunic but Stefano Pioli seems to have made the club’s stance on the midfielder clear.

Krunic has been sought by Fenerbahce in recent weeks, but MilanNews report that there was also a delegation from the French club there to observe the Bosnian during last night’s game between Milan and Torino.

However, Pioli made it clear that in his eyes the former Empoli man is not on the market. He spoke to Sky after the match and was asked by the reporter: “Will Krunic stay?” To which Pioli replied: “Yes.”

Krunic is clearly an important part of the plans given that he has started both of Milan’s opening two games of the season at the base of the midfield three.

Given that the days are ticking by and so is the time to potentially replace Krunic, the likelihood of him leaving continues to decline.

      1. Even teams like Empoli have good players every once in a while.

Don’t forget our very own Bennacer and Krunic coming from there.

They still have Baldanzi which was scouted by a lot of teams including us last season. They also had the likes of Parisi, Asllani and Piccoli.

  1. Krunic is not as technically skilled like Tijji or physically strong like Loftus but he does his job, runs alot covers the field and helps the defence and most importantly he always come in and play in each position he is required or if he is on the bench he is a professional not having a bad attitude like Rebic or Salad so I kinda understand why Pioli wants to keep him. However let’s not forget that Bennacer is coming back on January and I don’t see Krunic taking his spot so he may leave anyway.

    1. true but currently we don’t have a good player in that position, and with so few days left in the transfer window, it would be a bad idea to let him go and go for another player. I think we should keep him at least till winter

      1. There would be Dominguez but he is not far better… also we have Benni so we just need someone to cover the spot until he comes back. I’m expecting Adli to step in this season because if we continue to play 4-3-3 we need to 6 midfielders so he will get some play time

  2. Krunic is a player where of course you could upgrade, but I don’t think it should be a priority by any means. If we have a limited budget remaining, I would think you would want to prioritize finding another striker and fortifying the defense. Those seems far more important to me.

Krunic is no start but he is reliable and doesn’t hurt the team. It would be nice to have an actual protagonist in his role, but simply having a steady hand who minimizes mistakes, that’s certainly okay for now. We cannot address every area of need in one mercato.
