MN: Maldini and Massara targeting Atalanta veteran to fix upcoming gap in squad

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are planning on addressing the issue of back-up goalkeeper and they are closing in on a solution, according to a report.

According to MilanNews, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are aware of the gaps in the squad that Stefano Pioli is working with, which is why they have started moving well in advance, targeting a new goalkeeper.

This is largely because of the contractual situations of Ciprian Tatarusanu and Antonio Mirante, who are both under contract until June 2023 and therefore are free to find a new club as early as the end of the current season.

After the renewal of Pietro Terraciano at Fiorentina, the new target of the Rossoneri management as Maignan’s deputy is Marco Sportiello of Atalanta, who is struggling to get playing time at the moment.

The 30-year-old knows the league well having been at Atalanta for nine years, while he would also be useful for the squad list given the rules on homegrown players.
