MN: Milan intensify talks with entourage of Ajax defender but Roma still lead the race

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have held talks with the entourage of Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui over a summer move, according to a report.

MilanNews are reporting that Milan are desperate to fix their right-back problem in the upcoming transfer window and as a result the club has set its sights on Mazraoui.

After initial approache a few weeks ago, the Rossoneri leadership held talks with the Morocco international’s representatives on Tuesday and the discussions got more concrete.

The economic demands of Ajax have dropped from €12-13million to about €10million due to the ongoing effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, but above all the Eredivisie side would accept a deal on the basis of a two-year loan with obligation to buy.

Even the salary that the 23-year-old receives would fully fit into the philosophy of the ‘new Milan’ as he earns €500k-a-year on a deal until 2022.

The main obstacle between Milan and the young talent is Roma: the Giallorossi are currently ahead in the race, and on Thursday they will have a meeting directly in the capital with Mazraoui’s entourage to take stock of the situation and to understand whether or not they can sink the blow.

There is a factor which works in Milan’s favour though: Roma must raise funds with some substantial sales able to invest on the market.
