MN: Milan not worried about midfielder’s €50m clause or PSG interest – the reasons

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have no worries regarding the future of Ismael Bennacer despite his release clause and the threat of interest from abroad, a report claims.

According to MilanNews, it cannot be ruled out that a big club could come along and offer €50m – the figure of his release clause which kicks in next summer – but the variables involved are too complex and too diversified.

First of all, the will of the player must be taken into consideration and the former Empoli star is likely to want to continue his journey with Milan, especially if a coveted return to the Champions League came this season.

An attempt by PSG – who continue to be linked – would not be easily refused, but it is by no means obvious that all players will be seduced by money.

The Rossoneri management have built one of the strongest midfields in Serie A, and after the futures of Donnarumma, Calhanoglu and Ibra are resolve, Maldini and Massara will also have to think about Kessie and Bennacer.

The former has an agreement until 2022 that will be quickly extended, while the Algerian may soon deserve a pay rise too, though his deal runs until 2024.

These are steps that will be taken when his performance rises exponentially, and nothing prevents Milan from trying to remove or raise the release clause to guard a prized asset.
