MN: Milan join Juventus and Dortmund in race to sign Palermo starlet

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of a number of top clubs in Italy and around Europe that have cast their eyes on Palermo’s rising star Giuseppe Pipitó, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, Pipitó could soon be changing clubs. The 14-year-old midfielder currently plays for Palermo’s Giovanissimi Nazionali U15 team, but his contract with the Sicilian club runs out in June.

For this reason has ended up in the sights of several top Italian and foreign clubs given that in the summer he can move on a free transfer. In addition to Roma, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, the Milan management have targeted the young Rosanero talent.

In the current season, Pipitó has already 10 goals in the league and he netted his most recent one on February 25th against Cosenza. He amassed 17 goals and 15 assists with the U14s, earning him an early promotion to the U15s.

One report from Gazzetta Regionale talks about how the teenager is a left-footed player that can essentially play in any attacking position, and at the moment he is quite a shy and introverted character.

They spoke to Pamela Conti (former Italy player and currently coach of the Venezuelan women’s national team), because she watched him first hand at an academy.

“Giuseppe arrived at my football school when he was 4 years old. He is a pure left-footed player, with an excellent technique, but the thing that distinguishes him is that he would never stop, in my football school he trained with all age groups,” she said.

“He was our flag, our strong point, our jewel. He is a very silent, introverted boy, he expresses himself with the ball and it is a spectacle, for me it’s as if he were a son!

“Already as a child he demonstrated an attitude that is difficult to find in such young children. At 6 years old he scored a goal, took the ball and put it back in the centre waiting for the referee’s whistle to attack again and do it again goal.

“Few times have I seen a child like this. He has all the characteristics to become a great footballer, the talent he has is evident.”

Milan have shown with their recent movements that they are always looking to recruit talent for the youth ranks in addition to nurturing what they already have, especially in view of registering an U23 team soon.
