MN: Milan reach out to entourage of Saint-Etienne star to declare strong interest in player

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have resumed contacts with the entourage of Saint-Etienne defender Wesley Fofana, according to a report.

The Rossoneri, after focusing on the midfield, could now turn to completing the defender. Alessio Romagnoli and Simon Kjaer have formed an effective partnership but Mateo Musacchio is injured, Leo Duarte still needs to be fully evaluated and Matteo Gabbia could be loaned out.

According to MilanNews, Milan have made contact with the representatives of Wesley Fofana in the last few hours during which the management informed them that they are strongly interested in the evolution of their client’s situation.

Milan also apparently said that if there are openings and suitable conditions, Milan are ready to make a move right up until the last day of the summer transfer window.

The player’s agents are working alongside Saint-Etienne to convince them to let Fofana and to lower their €30m asking price. They are waiting for the middle of September to force their hand.

Milan therefore are in the front row for the defender, despite the interest from other clubs including Leicester.
