Milan are looking for a striker on the market, one similar to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as the Swede most likely can’t play every game next season. Several names have been mentioned in the media, most recently Olivier Giroud.

The Frenchman’s contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of June and he’s expected to leave the club. According to Anto Vitiello of MilanNews, it’s an opportunity that entices both Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, the directors of Milan.

Giroud has similar characteristics to Ibrahimovic and is also a very experienced player, which could be useful in the Champions League. Furthermore, a free transfer would allow the Rossoneri to offer a slightly higher salary.

It remains to be seen if Milan will proceed with their interest and make a concrete attempt, but it’s clear that will have to wait until after the Champions League final between Chelsea and Man City. Perhaps Giroud will get a few minutes.
