MN: Milan unwilling to meet demands of Taremi’s entourage after unprofessional behaviour

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s negotiations over Mehdi Taremi are pretty much at a dead end with no substantial movements having been made today, a report claims.

MilanNews reports that – despite Milan’s great efforts on the penultimate day of the summer mercato – the negotiations for Taremi currently seem to have reached a dead end.

The Rossoneri management simply cannot currently accept the conditions posed by the new entourage chosen by the player, who in an unprofessional manner changed the terms of the agreement before the deal closed.

The negotiation can only be unblocked and get back on the right track with a strong reduction in these new economic requests (salary and commissions).

However, given that time continues to tick by and the hours that are left in the summer mercato are becoming fewer and fewer, the chances of the parties coming together and a full agreement being found are now incredibly slim.

  1. While 1.5m may be low, if you had previously agreed and in the last minute changes your mind then I don’t blame milan one bit.

  2. I won’t be sad if he doesn’t come. Never been a fan of him as player.
I would have preferred go keep Colombo for now and save the money for a better, longterm solution (in January or even next summer).

  3. No matter what the condition is, to going back and try to change the deal previously agreed upon is unprofessional. Just give final offer, the same as previous deal, take it or leave it. Smh

Seems like a good player but his entourage are ruining his image. Well actually all the entourages and agent fees are ruining football. There should be a regulation about maximum amount of agent fees per transfer.

  4. yupp – Milan should only sign players that want to be with the club, not just to make money, but want to make an impact and build a legacy.

    Forza Senatores:
Ancelotti, Costacurta, Tassotti, Ambrosini, Seedorf, Albertini, Donadoni, Abbiati, Abate, Dida, Boban, Pirlo, Ibra, Maldini, Cafu, Gattuso, Nesta, Baresi, Van Basten, Gullit, Rijkaard, Insaghi, Sheva, Kaka, Bonaventura, etc…..

    1. Bruh world is change so does soccer and with things that happen in EPL and PSG and recently Saudi, economic aspect is also important because football has become more in business than hobby, thats why the club itself trying to boost the revenue because football now is about money just like we are who live outside football area

  5. It’s sad that Milan lost an opportunity to look for other strikers these last few days, now we’re kind of left with no good alternatives to Giroud.
As for Taremi, I think Milan should not negociate with him never again. He’s not a good professional.

  6. Origi stays then. Wouldn’t mind that actually.
Unless there’s some secret moves being done for someone else, like J. David or Sesko or Openda. Fantasy

  7. Seems like we dodged a bullet here. He can stay where he is if our club isn’t good enough if the millions are too few… buu hoo. He’ll be in saudi next summer, mark my words.

  8. Regardless of his agents lack of ethics – the mistake in all of this was WATING till the last day of the transfer market to address such an important area of need – considering we have no true backup to Giroud and he will be soon 37 and WILL get injured and WILL need rest. HAD we planned properly we could have pivoted to other targets and secured one of them with ample time left in the window.

BUT we did not. That is OUR fault. Agents are agents they will always be greedy. We should know better and should have anticipated that coming. You always need a backup plan and we did not have one. That is poor management by Furlani and Moncada. Despite all the good signings they made this window – this was a huge mistake IMO. It’s not about the player Taremi. It’s about not securing a proper backup to arguably the most important position on the pitch when you know Giroud is older and will get injured and will need rest, you banned Origi to the stands and you loaned the only other true#9 we had (although green) in Columbo.

That was a HUGE RISK to take. At stake are the knockout stages in the UCL and with it 50-60M plus in additional revenue. That revenue is essential to fund our transfers and club. Without it we may see more sales of more core players next season. So yes the agents asking for another 5M in commissions is bad form and unethical – but they aren’t dumb and know the position we are in – and when you wait until the last minute to negotiate and don’t leave your self any alternatives – your caught with your pants down. they know you either accept or leave the window with nothing. They will get their commissions in summer when he’s free so either you pay those commissions now or someone will in a few months time. It was naive to think they wouldn’t do that. We said no. Ok we keep our what? Pride? Righteousness? Lol. Ok fine – but IMO We are choosing to risk UCL knockout for 5M doesn’t make much sense.

So ya an extra 5M in commission stings but it’s partly our fault for waiting. You can’t ignore that.

Everyone on here who based Origi better start praying for this man to come good because man are we ever gonna need him now! 😂😂😂😂😂

    1. I agree with you for the most part. But the way these Agents are these days they are exploitative. They pulled the rug from under us. Kinda like what Chala did and to a large degree Kessie. They keep moving goalposts. I hope ppl are realizing sometimes it’s not the director after all, it’s these agents who can screw you over

    2. With the agreement of the player in place, Milan’s strategy was perfectly sound, and that was to wait for the last minute and push Porto into a corner, and yes it worked. They could not have foreseen the agents changing the terms, and hence got blindsided by a strategy that was sown up and got them the agreement at favorable terms with the club. A bit unfortunate especially with our personnel in the CF department at hand. Let’s hope they either find a last minute solution or go into the winter mercato with a plan. Hopefully they can get Jonathan David’s then. Forza

    3. Juro, I see what you meant, but IMHO, waiting for the last day to do the business is a strategy used by both Milan and Taremi’s camp to drive down the asking price from Porto, knowing that each day that passed weaken their hands. So, this waiting bit is by design.

What Milan managements seem to get caught off guard is how Taremi is leading us on all the way, he appeared to be agreeing to the proposed fee, only to then backtrack on it and raised the request significantly – again, a strategy that banking on Milan to be desperate and yield to the demand.

This is similar tactic used by Samardzic and I commend Inter to walk away from that quickly. Apparently, we also walked out from Taremi, so I must applaud the management’s too. Sure, probably there’s some disappointment as we seemed to get baited to this situation, but in the end, this is a lesson learnt for everyone. Just like how I wouldn’t blame Maldini for getting led on by Kessie and his entourage, I wouldn’t blame Furlani and co for this too. This also sets up a good example that no matter how good you perceive a management is, everyone is not infallible.

About the CL knock out stage. Look, I like Taremi and he would be a massive boost to our forward line, but I don’t think any player – even Messi included, would be able to guarantee our safe passage to later stages of CL. That’s just my opinion though.

    4. We let Donnaruma leave for nothing, didn’t offer him anywhere near his value for 2 years. Spent more on a transfer fee and wages to get Maignan. We coukd have signed Both and sold one in the next summer window.

We let Hakan leave for 200 to 300 K, lowballed him to death. Never replaced his set piece skills.

We let Kessie leave and refused to pay him 4 to 6 million, which is a bargain for a player of his capabilities and skillset. Never replaced him. Kept Bennacer who is smaller, frail and prone to injuries instead because he would accept a couple million less a year. Then we sold Tonali, had we signed Donna and sold him, we could have funded all midfield signings over 3 windows instead of one then sold Hakan, Kessie and Bennacer for loads of money.

Now we offered a player, who scored 31 goals, 1.5 million euros. Then expected his intermediaries to not backtrack? Didn’t have a contigency plan.

See the patterns? Wait to the last minute, expect favours, then roll the dice. This management is intent on expecting miracles. We drop this team into the ground physically for 3 years. Even Gasperini said CDK was not in condition to start because our training methods are lacklustre. So half assedness is to be expected at this point.

      1. Donnarumma’s and Kessie’s agents were after huge commissions in the end, same as now in this case with Taremi.

Doesn’t matter if previous or this management, they took the right decision in not being held hostage by greedy agents and spineless players.

      2. “Now we offered a player, who scored 31 goals, 1.5 million euros. Then expected his intermediaries to not backtrack? Didn’t have a contigency plan. ”

Some say it was 3M. And it REALLY doesn’t matter whether he was offered 1, 1.5 or even 5M€ when they had already agreed on the amount and the motherf*ckers changed the rules afterwards. Like it has been said, it’s completely unprofessional and unethical.

  9. Well our strikers are all actually experienced in UCL like giroud, oka4, and origi. The problem is only giroud who knows best the teamwork and how to make goals against PSGay, DortMud, and NewCattle in UCL group. So if they all train and work hard, maybe we can go to the next round in UCL..

  10. Randal Kolo Muani scored 16 for Eintracht Frankfurt, last season, and I believe they’d sell for a decent price. J. David would be great, but he seems happy at Lille.

Where we really blew it was missing out on both Balogun and Thuram.

    1. We dodge a bullet with Thuram. He is simply not impressing. Je doesnt excite me and glad tlwe saw the back of him. Happy he went to the blue side of town

  11. Well our strikers are all actually experienced in UCL like giroud, oka4, and origi. The problem is only giroud who knows best the teamwork and how to make goals against PSGey, DortMud, and NewCattle in UCL group. So if they all train and work hard, maybe we can go to the next round in UCL.. .

  12. I’m.glas they didn’t cave in to these agents’ unprofessional demands. The other issue is with the player who seemingly changed his entourage (?) If I’m reading this correctly.
Can’t do that and then expect these sorts of issues, his words are actually the biggest now. If he tells his agents to get it across the line they have to in order to meet his demands. The agent personal demands are not his. He has control of the situation still.

  13. Pavlidis, willlian Jose, daka all apparent options on deadline day. Don’t know too much about them but instead of being desperate wouldn’t it be better to wait until January?

  14. For me, not having him on the squad is not a big matter at all, never liked his work rate, he’s so slow, and Pavlidis of AZ Alkmaar is way much better than him I think.

  15. I hope Furlani/Moncada don’t rush into a striker at this point. Better use Origi and wait until winter. Better to avoid knee-jerk reactions.

  16. Agent fee was the reason Milan lost $umma and Kessie. The management might have changed but the principle remain the same as Furlani still hold the financial key. They must keep stand firm against those greedy agents.

    1. Exactly, they did not want to be held hostage by greedy agents and spineless players.

I remember the story, where Pippo’s agent was blackmailing for new contract and wanted huge salary and commission. Inzaghi secretly signed without his agent and then fired him.

    1. But he did agree on our conditions initially. The issue here is that he and his agents changed their mind last minute and wanted more money. If he wanted more money why didn’t he say from the start.
