MN: Milan’s accounts produce ‘extraordinary’ outcome – next step in the project is obvious

By Oliver Fisher -

There are definite shoots of recovery for AC Milan in terms of their financial situation, but another key element is needed to take the project up a level.

MilanNews journalist Antonio Vitiello has written a column praising CEO Ivan Gazidis and the club’s American ownership Elliott Management for the fact that they have halved the losses on the balance sheet.

The club has gone from €194.6m in losses for the 2019-20 year to €96.4m in the 2020-21 period, an ‘extraordinary’ result and in contrast with the rest of the European sides like Inter and Juventus who instead recorded record losses.

Milan worked well to trim the losses down despite the pandemic and now the positive effects of sustainable spending in line with cost management are being seen. The next step is obvious: for the Rossoneri to have their own stadium – most likely one shared with Inter – as only in this way will there be the definitive take-off of the Milan project.

  1. I think all the new contracts should include giving the club the power to extend a player’s contract by one year. If any renew failed, it at least can help generate some revenue. Just as what Chelsea did to Giroud. It is extra protection for the club.
