MN: Milan’s preseason begins in less than a month – the areas that must be addressed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s preseason will officially start on July 4th which means there is less than a month until the squad reconvenes at Milanello to begin preparations for the 2022-23 campaign.

The transfer window will soon begin to heat up, and MilanNews recall how Gerry Cardinale dictated in recent days that continuity will be key, meaning Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara will stay on as directors and Stefano Pioli will be the head coach, the the former duo set to extend their contracts soon.

Maldini, Massara and Pioli’s intent is to strengthen the squad in the weakest area which is the attack; specifically the right wing, No.10 and centre-forward roles. The defensive department also needs a new signing because of Alessio Romagnoli’s probable exit.

In midfield, the returns of Tommaso Pobega and Yacine Adli from their loan spells will provide a numerical boost, but Franck Kessie’s farewell must be taken into account. In attack it is virtually certain that Divock Origi will sign, while waiting for further updates on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future.

The feeling at the moment is that the Rossoneri market is a bit blocked and certain situations need to be unlocked, however the target is an obvious and ambitious one: to earn a second star before Inter and to go further in the Champions League.
