MN: Pioli and Milan have desire for redemption – tactical innovations cannot be ruled out

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is willing to consider tactical adjustments given the team’s current struggles for form, a report claims.

As MilanNews writes, it seems like some time has passed since the Rossoneri were firing on all cylinders and beating everyone put in front of them but in reality it has been a matter of weeks. The defeat against Juventus was perhaps not too big a hammer blow given the selection issues, but the games against Atalanta, Spezia and now Inter have shown the team in a negative light.

The Rossoneri are now in second place and four points behind the Nerazzurri, with top four far from guaranteed despite such an excellent start to the season. The disappointment is obviously huge both in the case of Pioli and the whole team. After the game yesterday, the Milan boss declared: “We are a young group, it is true, but we have come this far because we have balance and confidence in our work. The first really bad week of the season ends, but we must be good at understanding that a path like ours is also made up of these moments.

“They must be overcome with conviction and positivity, you have to raise the level, when you lose you have to work harder and well. It is now that we have to prove that we are a strong team, we have the qualities to do well until the end.”

Milan have lost a few of their certainties with regards to their tactical approach and therefore it will be intriguing to see what Pioli will do to overcome the mini-crisis and get back on track. It is not excluded that there may also be evolutions from a tactical point of view, as confirmed by Pioli himself after the match lost against Inter: “We will evaluate the best choices for the next matches.”
