MN: The positions Fonseca has asked the Milan directors to address

Paulo Fonseca is in constant talks with the AC Milan management regarding planning for next season and he has asked for reinforcements in certain positions, a report claims.

According to MilanNews, Fonseca is in continuous contact with the directors about the moves to be made in the summer, with the knowledge that two important leaders of the dressing room such as Simon Kjaer and Olivier Giroud have left.

In particular, the Frenchman will have to be replaced and Milan’s priority in the upcoming summer window is to sign a new striker who can guarantee a certain number of goals and lead the line for years to come, with Joshua Zirkzee linked.

Fonseca wants a a right-back, a central defender and a physical midfielder to sit in front of the defence, and these priorities on the market also dictated by the tactical innovations that the coach wants to introduce to Milan.

The main formation will be a 4-3-3 and therefore it is essential to have balance, given he will rely heavily on possession to dominate the game and create scoring opportunities. In addition to that, the two full-backs will have to push forward. That is why a new right-sided defender is being sought.

  1. That wide laugh from Moncada in the picture is probably the management response to Fonseca asking for better players.

  2. I thought he wasn’t meant to ask for anything but just keep his lips firmly planted on Gerry’s backside. I guess the narrative people want to push is total nonsense.

  3. Attacking fullbacks, inverted wingers as inside forwards and a defensive midfielder who will support the backline while fullbacks push higher up. Where did I miss tactical innovations? I thought It’s how a proper 433 is suppose to look.

Media really trying hatd to make Fonseca a coaching sensation. Anyway, at least it’ll be a relieve from Pioliball and his inverted fullbacks sensation.

    1. The tactical innovation will be that not all attacks are “pass the ball to Leao and pray his cross goes anywhere near our players”.

      1. This. I think we’ll see a lot better passing through midfield with Fonseca. Last season our midfield looked deserted at times.

      2. Honestly there was an improvment last season.
Sometimes we had “pass the ball to Pulisic and pray he does something good”.

      3. more league goals were scored last season than any any season since 05-06…the attacking tactics were effective…the innovation will hopefully be defensive in nature…

  4. To be honest we don’t need much players.a DM which is very important and CB with experience.i’d go for hummels and keep Simic.we got terraciano for d right back role and he is still untested.we got okafor and jovic for striking role and we can build camarda.we only need backup for leao too cos okafor is not fit for that role.we can get nosling who is young fast and strong and can tick all positions in attack and we are good to go.

  5. Firstly, it’s too early to Judge our New coach. No one believe Pioli, Inzaghi will WIN SCUDETTO fir both Inter milan and Ac milan Also,No One believe Allegri will WIN SCUDETTO for Ac milan when we Employed him from CAGLIARI TO AC MILAN. Lastly, its Easy for many of US to Analysis football with OUR MOUTH,S and Typing. Firza Milan

    1. Not entirely the case with Allegri. He was manager of the year back then. Maybe the same exciting name as Motta nowadays. And we had a great mercato with Ibra, Robinho, Cassano, Boateng, Van Bommel. Completing the squad which were already consisting with the likes of Nesta, Silva, Zambrotta, Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Pato, Inzaghi, etc etc.

  6. Seriously!
What is the basis for suggesting that Fonseca is asking for any of these things?
There is no evidence given in this article to suggest that this is anything other than the wishlist of the author
