MN: Probable Milan XI to face Rio Ave – one selection quandary for Pioli to mull over

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one game away from qualifying for the Europa League groups stages, but Stefano Pioli must juggle some injury issues to get there.

The Rossoneri head into their Europa League Play-Off having against Rio Ave already seen off Shamrock Rovers and Bodo/Glimt in the previous rounds.

Pioli has a depleted squad to choose from with defender Mateo Musacchio, Leo Duarte, Alessio Romagnoli and Andrea Conti not fit, while Ante Rebic is suspended (and injured) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic has Coronavirus.

According to MilanNews, Pioli will be picking between Castillejo and Brahim Diaz on the right wing with the former having a slight advantage as things stand. Lorenzo Colombo will be the starting striker as against Bodø/Glimt, with Calhanoglu and Saelemaekers  behind him.

Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer will be the holding midfielders, while Calabria, Kjaer, Gabbia and Theo Hernandez will be the back four from right to left protecting Gianluigi Donnarumma in net.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Gabbia, Theo; Kessie, Bennacer; Castillejo, Calhanoglu, Saelemaekers; Colombo.
