MN: Pulisic continues to be Milan’s ‘superhero’ – the numbers of a fantastic debut season

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan got that winning feeling back again last night as they beat Cagliari 5-1 at San Siro, and Christian Pulisic had a starring role yet again.

MilanNews recall that it was against Claudio Ranieri’s side that Pulisic scored his first brace for the Rossoneri. He is having an excellent debut season at the club with 15 goals scored across Serie A, the Champions League and Europa League, topped off with nine assists.

The contribution that he offers to Milan is not purely numbers-based either though because his versatility and quality give Stefano Pioli more choices. Pulisic is useful as a left winger, right winger and, if necessary, an attacking midfielder behind the striker.

In addition to that first brace of the season last night, the two goals against Cagliari propelled the American to 12 goals in Serie A, momentarily surpassing strikers like Lukaku, Zapata and Zirkzee.

The former Chelsea man continues to demonstrate all his value and he keeps popping up with important contributions. An interesting stat is that he has scored seven goals with his strongest foot, his right, and therefore he has eight goals with his ‘weaker’ left foot.

He is a machine of quality and speed capable of magic with both feet, and he also matched Robinho too with the goals last night. The Brazilian also scored 15 goals in his first year in Italy and contributed in a fundamental way to the victory of the 18th Scudetto under Allegri’s tenure.

  1. With him, leao, chuk, and Okafor, plus Romero back, we’re set in wingers. We need a good cam to replace Diaz, and maybe a dm if we just push reijnders forward. Firstly a cf who can help in Play, but also knows how to finish

    1. We dont need CAM! Puli can play CAM as well. What we need is a striker and DM. And a manager who will believe in our young gens

      1. This.
Plus the new coach (if we do hire a new one), might go for a 4-3-3 or even a 4-4-2 if it’s Conceicao.
So the priorities are still the same.

    1. Keep Chuk, at least give him another season. He has been extremely unlucky with his situation, but that’s football. He even said in an interview that he can’t complain about his minutes because Pulisic is playing so well. I think his attitude has been good for a player in his situation. He has shown he has something to offer, and was playing good when he did play for a decent run of games here recently. If we get a world class CDM we can play puli as CAM and Chuk at RW. He does need to work on not being offsides. He would have bout 4 more goals if he hadn’t gone a fraction to early and had em all disallowed. Plus he just got injured in this Cagliari match. He just can’t catch a break, especially when these next 2 games he would have started since RLC is out for the season. Another missed opportunity for Chuk. Give him 1 more season. Pulisic is my favorite player. I’m only saying what is fair in regards to Chuk, at least imo.

      1. Chuck situation/ condition remind me CDK, he lack confidence & fighting spirit, he looks afraid whenever he get the ball, he stuck as 1 dimensional player, i don’t want him to be another Antony/ Suso,
so loan him to mid table Italian will be good for him (more minutes & adaptation) w/ no buy option

  2. Pulisic is above all an intelligent player, something that’s becoming more and more uncommon each passing year.
