MN: Romagnoli aiming to be back for the derby as Milan look for a reinforcement

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will begin the 2020-21 Serie A season without their captain Alessio Romagnoli, something which should force the club’s hand on the market.

According to MilanNews, Romagnoli will miss the matches against Bologna, Bodo/Glimt, Crotone and the possible Europa League Play-Off.

He could return against Spezia before the break, but the goal is to have him available and at his peak for the derby on 17 October. The former Roma man has disposed of the calf injury and has started training on the field again, now he just has to find the right condition.

However, the lack of an assured presence like Romagnoli was felt in Dublin during the 2-0 win over Shamrock Rovers, when Donnarumma was called into action on two or three occasions.

That is why the management are looking for a reinforcement on the market, and it could be another experienced centre-back capable of replacing the starters.

Gabbia gave his best in Ireland and did well in the times he was called into question, but now the bar has risen and Milan need help.
