MN: Romagnoli returns to training with the squad – he has the derby vs. Inter in his sights

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan welcomed captain Alessio Romagnoli back to group training for the first time on Thursday afternoon, a report claims.

Romagnoli missed the back end of the 2019-20 season as he picked up a calf injury, and he has been recovering with a personalised workout ever since.

However, MilanNews report how on Thursday the 26-year-old was able to once again train with the rest of his team-mates – those not away with their respective national teams at least – having fully recovered from the injury.

In the meantime Milan are waiting to get negative COVID tests from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Leo Duarte, but it is of course significant that Romagnoli is back to bolster a defensive department very thin on depth.

Romagnoli will have an eye on the derby as his competitive return, but bear in mind Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia have not conceded a single league goal in 270 minutes of action so far.
