AC Milan’s victory over AS Roma helped them to further solidify third place in Serie A and the way they set up and performed needs to be the normal expectation, a report suggests.
As explained by Milan News, Milan managed to get all three points at San Siro against Jose Mourinho’s side by fielding a more ‘normal’ looking 4-2-3-1 formation in which players were actually in the positions that they would expect to play.
Theo Hernandez was able to play at left-back thanks to the return of Matteo Gabbia, as the Italian was in the centre alongside Simon Kjaer.
It was a win that Stefano Pioli’s side certainly deserved on the balance of play, despite the fact that Roma got back to 2-1 with Leandro Paredes’ penalty and had a spell where it seemed they could launch an unexpected comeback.
The three points mean that Milan have a huge eight-point lead over Fiorentina in fourth, but they are still nine behind league leaders Inter.
If this sort of victory and lineup can become the norm for Milan, rather than a special and refreshing occasion, third place will become a formality and the sights can be set a little higher for the rest of the season.
If Ac Milan ends up at top 4 does that mean we are going back to champion league or we still going to Europa league?
1,2,3 and 4 goes to champions league. The new format doesn’t affect Italy’s 4 CL spots
