It seemed AC Milan had a chance to keep Luka Modric this summer, with him hoping to speak to the new management. However, those hopes are gone.
With Milan failing to qualify for the Champions League, it has always seemed unlikely that Modric would stay. After all, the drive for him to join the club was to compete at the highest level and initially, it seemed they were doing that.

However, the Rossoneri struggled massively in the second half of the season and ended up having to settle for a Europa League spot. It was only their fault, though; a really poor situation.
Modric leaning away from Milan
With their failure to qualify, hopes of Modric’s renewal went from high to beyond low and it seemed like there may have been a minuscule chance that he stayed at the club. In fact, it was reported this week that he wanted to see the new head coach and decide then.
However, Daniele Longo has confirmed a report from Jose Felix Diaz on his X, stating that the Croatian maestro is heading towards retirement after the World Cup.
In the midfielder’s eyes, his time at the club ended after the Cagliari game, with the failure to reach the Champions League. Worst of all, the project – if it can be called that – did not fascinate him in the end. A major, but expected blow.

SIX OR SEVEN STARTERS
So it’s final. Without Rangnick, Modric, Pulisic, MM16, Rabiot etc we’re absolutely doomed. Just a midtable team until a new owner arrives.
But the thing is that Gerry The Clown won’t sell until the value of the club goes high enough – which won’t happen because they have already destroyed the club.
His goal now probably is that stadium
Club, no matter how bad will be always will have that 8th position or in better yesr fight for 4th position or Europa League
For him that is enough to have positive balance sheet.
Smart kille
At the moment Modric leaving/retiring is the least of the clubs troubles .
The biggest problem today for Milan is Cardinale, who not only seems incapable but is also incapable of choosing the right persons to take the club forward.
Modric is excellent but not a player to build the future with , Jashari, Ricci, Comotto and some young new additions should be given the chance to grow .
Maignan, Fofana ,Leao, Loftus can all be replaced smartly with a capable management if only we had one.
Replacing Rabiot , should he want to leave, would be harder.
“Replacing Rabiot , should he want to leave,”
Is there any doubt? I’d say he wants out 1000%.
What’s our “new project”?
Just one more Luka…The idea of Jashari in your place is making my eyes hurt.
he can move to Como tho
