GdS: Modric has a reason to smile despite Scudetto dream fading – the reason

On Monday, Luka Modric was given a reason to smile thanks to AC Milan. However, it was not in a first-team setting, unfortunately.

Any dreams of a Scudetto push were left to the shadows on Easter Monday as Napoli took three points at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The title was never for Milan this season, yet they have pushed until the final stages.

Some may argue that the hopes of silverware faded a while ago. Yet, it is only really now that their chances have been laid to rest. So, the focus, if it ever wasn’t, returns to the Champions League and confirming qualification.

For Modric, the Scudetto was still a possibility and the Croatian had managed his minutes whilst away on international duty with caution in mind. However, the loss to the Neapolitans has called off a title push for this season.

Despite this, he was still given a reason to smile on Monday, thanks to his daughter, Ema.

As Gazzetta dello Sport reports, the Diavolo’s Under 13 team were successful in the Garino Cup, beating Inter in the semi-final before a win against Juventus in the final. Modric’s daughter even scored in the quarter final and he was able to catch bits of the game before taking to the field himself.

Given Modric’s emphasis on family when speaking of his biggest successes, it is sure to have left him feeling whole. Hopefully, the Under 14s team will also benefit from having Ema Modric among their ranks next season, if her father remains in Milano.

  1. He looked very frustrated during the game. I hope he stays but I would understand if he would give up given the state of the team.
