Montpellier striker brands Milan as ‘one of the best clubs in the world’ amid transfer links

By Oliver Fisher -

Montpellier striker Akor Adams has admitted that AC Milan are ‘one of the best clubs in the world’ but claimed that he has not started thinking about a move away just yet.

Milan have been linked with a number of different strikers in view of the January transfer window and Adams is one of them, given he scored seven goals in his first 11 Ligue 1 games of the season.

It seems that the 23-year-old is one of many options being considered alongside the likes of Serhou Guirassy and Jonathan David.

MilanNews managed to get an interview with Adams, asking him about the links with a move to England and Italy as well as how he is finding life in Ligue 1.

There is fierce interest in you from West Ham and Milan, would you like to try a new experience?

“To tell the truth, I haven’t thought about it and I don’t know anything [about West Ham’s interest]. We are in the current season, my mind is on Montpellier but for all children the Premier League is a dream.

“What if I join Chukwueze at Milan? It’s too early to talk about it, but Chuk is a very good player and everyone knows that Milan are one of the best clubs in the world.

“For now I can’t say anything but all football fans know that Milan is a top club and I too am aware of it. But to date I have never been to Italy yet….”

Last summer you moved from Norwegian side Lillestrøm to Montpellier in Ligue 1. How are you finding France?

“So far so good, the championship and the players in Ligue 1 are top! And if we compare it to where I come from we can say that this league is on another level.

“The biggest challenge? Since I am a very physical attacker all defenders come in very hard. One aspect I need to improve on is knowing how to improvise to dominate my opponents in the best possible way.”

In the box you can score with both feet and your head, but you haven’t scored in seven games. Does this have to do with the fact that you receive little service? Maybe with Leão, Pulisic and Chuk on the sides things could improve….

“I can’t criticise my teammates. We won the last match and I have to be as positive as possible. But yes, I am a penalty area striker and we are working to improve.”

Osimhen is an idol for many Nigerians. Is he for you too?

“No, my idol is Ronaldo Nazario. But in Nigeria we are lucky to have such strong players who play in the best leagues in the world like Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface are doing well. And Chuk! We hope to do well in the national team too.”

It was claimed by Calciomercato.com earlier today that the talks with Montpellier for Adams have not brought the desired results because the French club want to keep hold of him at least until the end of the current season, so that track has cooled.

  1. Is a player who is the same age as you an idol for you too?
    Give me Zirkzee.
Throw in some young players in the package to lower the cash amount like Saelemaekers, Colombo, Nasti, Maldini, etc and bring Zirkzee and Motta to Milan.

  2. Out of topic:

People who downplayed the win against Frosinone with “It’s only Frosinone, an easy win” gonna look like a complete r*tard when they see Frosinone slaughtered Napoli 4-0 video.

    On topic:

I don’t know who’s this guy but whoever striker Milan gonna grab in the summer, he at least needs to have the same goals and assist statistic as Giroud.
