Morata questioned on potential Milan move after EURO 2024 win: “Let’s see”

Spain striker Alvaro Morata is keeping his cards close to his chest when it comes to a potential move to AC Milan this summer.

Morata was spoken to by Sky Sport Italia (via Milan News) in the aftermath of winning the 2024 European Championship against England in Berlin, the Atletico Madrid striker refused to give too much away about where he may be playing his football next season.

“I don’t know, let’s see. For now I’m thinking about enjoying this trophy,” Morata said when the inevitable question came from the Italian media.

Morata played a key role across the tournament for Spain as an experienced head in what is a very young squad, and he feels that he deserves this trophy after his efforts.

“In this European Championship I had to put on my bricklayer’s clothes and do a lot of work. I’m proud of what I’ve done in my career with the national team. I think I deserved this cup because I never gave up. We are a very solid group, there was a fantastic atmosphere. Sometimes I had to raise my voice a bit, but these guys are good and in the end we were all laughing,” Morata said.

Morata was also gushing about former Juventus teammate Giorgio Chiellini who was in the Sky Sport Italia studio for the game.

“For me you have always been an example as a footballer, but above all as a man. I thank you for the way you treated me. You were a champion and you remain a person I admire. At the last European Championship in the final I supported Italy, because you are my friends and because my family is Italian. Today it was our turn,” he said.

Morata appears to be the chosen heir to Olivier Giroud in the Milan attack but other strikers are still being linked as the club wants to ensure that Paulo Fonseca has more options than Stefano Pioli did last season.
