Moretto: Chaka Traore to pen long-term renewal and enter first team fold

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have reached an agreement with Chaka Traore over a contract extension and a promotion is on the cards, according to a report.

There is no doubting that Traore is among the biggest talents that Milan have in their youth system at the moment as he has stood out playing for Ignazio Abate’s side, especially during their run to the UEFA Youth League semi-finals.

However, the young Ivorian needed his contract situation resolving given that his deal was originally set to expire at the end of last month but the club triggered a one-year option to move that to June 2024.

According to Matteo Moretto of Relevo, Traorè has signed a renewal with Milan until 2028, thus extending his deal by four years from the previous deadline.

Not only that, but the journalist adds how the idea is that he will enter into the dynamics of the first team. He has begun preseason with Stefano Pioli’s senior side along with Hugo Cuenca and Victor Eletu.

The left winger scored seven times in 22 league games last season having netted eight the season before, and he impressed in Europe too.

  1. This is massive. We have to give credit to new management for pulling this off. There is no question here that he is exceptional talent. Now it’s on Pioli not to obliterate the poor kid before he even gets a 1st team football taste.

  2. With Leao in his position and Pulisic being a natural LW, plus most likely Rebic and Origi still being on the team, Chaka won’t get much playing time, if any. Send the kid on loan so he can play regularly and gain experience.

    1. With or without Traore, Milan would happily sell Rebic…. if they could. However, not going to be an easy sell on his current form and wage.
