Moretto: The five positions Milan are intent on strengthening this summer

AC Milan have five priorities when it comes to the summer transfer window in terms of roles to address, according to one journalist.

According to Matteo Moretto of Relevo (via @AC_MilanFR), Milan’s main objectives for the summer transfer window are as follows: a top striker, a playmaker that can also play as a No.8, a right winger, a central defender and a deputy to Theo Hernandez.

Milan have been on the hunt for a striker for some time given that Olivier Giroud has been working time due to the others not offering guarantees, while Daichi Kamada continues to be linked and he possibly fits into the hybrid midfielder category.

The right flank has been problematic for Milan too with Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers struggling to be consistent, while the centre-back and left-back roles perhaps suggest some exits will happen and also potentially explain the Evan N’Dicka links.

  1. I feel like all those positons can be found in primavera. Promote kids and cash out on SMS, youth + exp = who knows

      1. Well his name is @flyingturtle – my guess is he’s on lots of meds lol with his crazy and racist (Arabs) takes. Embarassing kid

  2. Impossible that Pioli and the front staff think that Tonali, Krunic and Pobega will be enough, until Bennacer comes back. And if Kamada plays 8, who plays AM?

Fck it they are thinking like the bankers they are, they will base their strategy on speculation. Cheap players to resell later or free agents that Aston Villa and Roma don’t want. Milinkovic-Savic would be a dream addition but no, he’s 28 so they can’t sell him for a profit later. A football team is not an investment firm, at least if you want to win anything. We are going nowhere if they don’t wake up. Moncada won’t tell anything, he probably doesn’t want to be thrown out of the window like Maldini and Massara.

  3. Striker: Thuram and Okafor/Scamaca
    AMC / No8: SMS
    RW: Zanilo & Orlisimi
    CB: Scalvini
    LB cover: Emil Holm

Sell: Tomori, Rebic, Adli, Origi, Mesiess، Florenzi, Gabbia, Mirrente

    My humble opinion

    1. Striker Thuram free
      right wing Lukebakio 10 Million
left wing El sahraawy or Bamba free
      offensiv mitfield kamada Free
      central mitfield Savic 30m
      central Defender Ndicka free
      left Back Parisi 10 Million

      player sellings around 30 million
      messias,origi,rebic,gabbia,toure,adli

when we spend just 20 million
and have around 30 to 40 million
extra for a third Striker and maybe a playmaker
and if CDK leave than where have around thirty million on top extra… what this three agents on the market the transfer market is normally very easy Dessert

        1. Dreaming of nightmare?

          • Messias

          LW
          • Leao
          • Saelemaekers

          ST
          • Giroud
          • Colombo
          • Lazetic

  4. Wtf is a ”playmaker who can also play as a number 8”? We need an ACTUAL playmaker. A number 10, especially now that Diaz is gone. Right winger and striker are the two other most important positions, without which we will be back in mid-table struggling to get Europa League in a few years.

    1. Pioli failed with Paqueta, Calhanoglu, Diaz, De Ketelaere at 10, so he made 8s play at the position, with Kessié or Krunic or Bennacer. This is probably why they are looking for a hybrid profile, and possibly also explains why we struggle against low blocks.

      1. Unfortunately this is the ugly truth that Pioli failed with establishing consistent N10 performer. All players that you mention weren’t consistent with us.

  5. FIVE?

    For a 23 man squad?

That’s over a fifth of the squad.

How many companies change one fifth of their workforce and expect to IMPROVE?

Surely if we have a limited budget we’d be better off signing 3 higher quality players v 5 lower quality players?

Every single change to the squad will cause disruption. It will disrupt established partnerships, friendships, routines.

Think of any time you have started a job (in an officer or a bar) or someone else has joined your team and how long it took to settle in. Now imagine that happening to 25% of your team?

And that’s an office job. Not a group of elite athletes operating at the highest levels imaginable where a split second can decide a game.

    It’s bonkers.

Sure there is always room for improvement and recruitment plays a key role in any organisation. But it has to be balanced.

1 world class player would make a world of difference so focus on that. This squad by definition is capable of finishing in the top 4 (or higher if they can beat the bottom teams) and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League. Saying that 25% of the squad needs to be changed is madness.

    1. Five???!!! That’s exactly half of the starting team when we don’t count the goalkeeper!!!
I am very curious what will bring the new management before the start of the next season.

      1. Ignoring the fact that we already have 5 CBs (Gabbia – remember him?), Kjaer, Tomori, Thiam and Kalulu, why do we need 5 CBs?

How will the fifth ever play?

Why do we need a bigger squad than Man City?

Why do we need a bigger squad than professional rugby teams???

The reason modern fans love big squad is because it means more transfers and modern fans love lots of transfers.

Because they’ve got the attention spans and loyalty of goldfishes.
