Moretto offers update on late Milan midfield movements: “Direct contact expected”

This summer, AC Milan have strengthened the midfield more than anywhere else. However, they may not be done yet.

Tijjani Reijnders’ departure has allowed a complete restructuring of the midfield, and it has been very much a case of sell to buy. Last year, the issues in the middle were clear, so the lightbulb had to be sold to share the brightness.

Luka Modric, Samuele Ricci and Ardon Jashari have all joined, and they add to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Youssouf Fofana as the other ‘mainstays’. However, there is another that could be of use.

That, of course, is Yunus Musah, though his future looks to be elsewhere. Then, in this case, the Rossoneri would reinvest the funds into another purchase.

Another midfield addition?

Earlier today, it was reported that the favoured idea was Giovanni Fabbian, but Adrien Rabiot could also be another option. Matteo Moretto has discussed it this afternoon, as MilanNews relays.

“Direct contact is expected between Milan and Bologna today to try to advance the negotiations. Milan is ready to offer €14 million and already yesterday began making moves on some midfielders. There has also been contact with other clubs regarding other players, but they aren’t leaving at the moment and won’t be leaving until the end.

“There’s uncertainty about Rabiot. The Musah-Atalanta deal isn’t as advanced as they say, but it could speed up in the next few hours, although Allegri would prefer to keep Musah.”

  1. Don’t understand the amount of hate for Fofana…. I understand he is not a world class player, but man…. he is not Satan neither

    1. I think people tend to confuse one game vs overall. The game wasn’t great but also i wouldnt say his overall is great either. We actually don’t know where he’s at as he’s been played out of position last year and then got benched and out of shape. It seems to me he’s getting back in shape. And his role really is more mezzala/b2b type for which we have many, shooting is still atrocious though. Now when you couple that with Ricci and Jashari largely on the bench after spending 60m, thats gonna aggravate fans. And that’s really it I’d say. For me it’s less Fofana and more poor coaching

  2. Uche is indeed linked to us according to Milannews. 15 million euros. Could be an interesting idea. But is he really what we need?

  3. This is going to be a hot week. They can make or break the season with signings. Not qualifying for CL is over 100M again, better get the funds for another centre back and a starting striker. Rabiot doesn’t seem like a bad option and Allegri wants and knows him.

  4. Uche can play as central mid or attacking mid. Remains to be seen if we will beat the Wolves. Up to the player if we’re serious.

  5. We have until Sunday evening to fix things, thats when transfer window closes.
We just need better players. Fofana and RLC does not have the quality to play so high op the field. The will never score unless its a tap in.

    1. It’s not even the issue of scoring. They simply don’t connect passes well. They ruin attacks. We need another midfielder.

    2. If we have until Sunday to fix things then it wasnt a good plan over the last few months in the first place

  6. Rabiot already refused us last season. He’s is not welcome. We need to play the players we bought in during the Mercato. We already knew Fofana and RLC weren’t it and last match gave us a reminder. These last minute reinforcements (Fabbian) won’t help and look like Bondo and Terracciano level. If management wants to waste away funds give it to Vlahović.

  7. I have bad feeling for rabbiot , he is more problematic than dusan. You can argue with your team mate in heat but punching your team mate in face and not stopping until security coming to stop you are awful attitude, this is football not MMA. Even angry gattuso never punching his team mate on face. If yunus musah out to atalanta or napoli , i will choose fabbian than rabbiot

    1. Yeah that’s crazy. Can you imagine fighting on your workplace with like 30 people around and cameras on the other side of the door… And as Martin says, his mom has been a huge issue everywhere he’s been, from Paris to Juventus and now Marseille.

    2. What are you talking about again clown? How can you make up a story? The story was described perfectly, it didn’t go like that.

          1. Do you want me to copy paste the comment where you insult me, I reply and than you ask sempremilan to ban me? You are exactly the type of whimp I am describing.

  8. Fabbian might be good backup and btw i think we should prioritize the defense and a striker it was way to many defensive mistakes (Pavlovic) pls bring in one more starting defender
