Whilst AC Milan were heavily linked with signing another defender throughout the January mercato, they failed to do so, and a report has suggested that they rejected chances to sign two young defenders on deadline day.
With Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu sidelined, there was a need to recruit defenders in the window. However, with Tomori and Thiaw suspected to return next month, there is not as much need for reinforcements as there was perhaps at the beginning of the transfer window.
Matteo Moretto (via MilanNews) reported that the Rossoneri were offered two young defenders in the last few hours of the window from Leeds United and Valencia, respectively.
Charlie Cresswell from Leeds has failed to earn much game time this season for the promotion-pushing side and was offered to Milan, given their defensive situation. The Diavolo also had the chance to sign Cenk Ozkacar, who similarly had failed to earn much playing time. However, neither opportunity was acted upon.
Leed & Valencia reject, why?
Would have been two panic signings. Gabbia is plenty.
There as NO such need! We have Calabria, Kjear, Gabbia, Theo, Simic, Jumenez and Bartesaghi more than enough to cover for a month or two. Just give them the bloody playtime!
Lol, Charlie Cresswell looks very much like a “Charlie”.
