CM: Muriel could say farewell to Atalanta – Milan and Juve on alert after January interest

By Oliver Fisher -

Luis Muriel’s future at Atalanta is far from certain meaning that AC Milan could reignite their interest in him, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com report how Muriel has had a difficult time recently, having remained at the club in January when he looked set to leave the club, getting more consistent playing time since but then sustaining a recent injury.

Muriel seriously considered the idea of a transfer during the winter window as rumours about a potential move to Milan or Juventus began to gather steam. Both clubs were looking for a striker but under the right circumstances and in the end there were no contacts between the parties.

The feeling is that a farewell to Bergamo could have become a reality then and in the summer it could once again return to prominence. At 31 years of age, Muriel will in fact find himself 12 months from the expiry of his contract with the Bergamo club and he may well choose to try something new.

Atalanta are an expensive shop, but for an over 30 year old who is approaching the end of his contract, they could not ask for more than €12-15m.

  1. This doesn’t make any sense to me at all.
Muriel at 31 for 12-15m euro and Bellotti at 28 yrs for free. Bellotti is younger, an Italian plus he’s a diehard Milanista.
This is just a no brainer. I think Paolo and Massara need to act wisely.
