AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli is attracting interest from another side in Serie A in addition to Lazio, a report claims.
Romagnoli joined Milan all the way back in 2015 from Roma and up until the 2020-21 season he was one of the first names on the team sheet, establishing himself as one of the better defenders in the league.
He was rewarded for his importance by being given the captain’s armband, but the arrivals of Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer meant he was no longer a guaranteed start, and Pierre Kalulu’s emergence after Kjaer’s long-term injury also bumped him down.
According to reports from La Nazione (via Calciomercato.com), Romagnoli has now entered the crosshairs of Fiorentina who have lodged an enquiry with his entourage.
However, at the moment the Italian seems more inclined to accept the offer from Lazio who are his boyhood club, with Maurizio Sarri pushing for reinforcements in that particular area.
For me, not giving him a contract offer of 3M is the same to what Kessie did and left. Disrespect where it shouldn’t exist. He was the captain and was here for 7 years, still a good defender.
I would like us to offer him a contract somewhere in the region of 3.5m – 4m. Good defender even though I believe Botman or Bremer are better, I think if we would extend Romagnoli then there is no need to be spending big money in the centre back department this year. Would much rather want us to really make sure that the right wing and attacking midfield is properly manned with good quality.
