MN: Negotiations continue over renewal of Tonali’s ‘fundamental’ partner

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are working on the renewal of Ismael Bennacer just as they have been for months now, and there is optimism regarding the chances of reaching an agreement.

MilanNews writes that the turning point in the talks has come in recent weeks with the change of agent as the Algerian is now represented by Enzo Raiola, Mino’s successor, having previous been represented by Moussa Sissoko.

Last Wednesday, Raiola was in Milan to meet Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara at Casa Milan to speak about a renewal which is desired by all the parties involved. The situation is not far from ending positively, but not too close either as Milan have made an offer worth €4m net per season but there is still a distance on the salary demands and other points such as the release clause.

It is a renewal that Sandro Tonali certainly wants as he revealed during the joint interview given to Gazzetta dello Sport, DAZN, Sky and Mediaset while in Dubai.

“He’s fundamental for Milan. There’s no other word to describe him. Fundamental. He’s everywhere, he runs for everyone. He raises our technical level. It’s difficult to play without Isma right now. It’s easier when you have someone like him along side you,” he said.

“I repeat, he is fundamental. He must stay, he knows better than me what Milan is. He knows the path they have followed, and he knows what we can do together. So he knows very well what to do. And I hope with all the good in the world that he will stay He knows very well what it’s like to play here.”

The feeling and the hope is that these declarations from Tonali will be answered with a renewal in the coming weeks, but more talks will be needed.
