Tuttosport: From CDK and Origi to Ziyech and other targets – ‘new’ arrivals the focus for Pioli

By Oliver Fisher -

The winter training camp is important for Stefano Pioli and AC Milan for a number of reasons, and new signings will very much be a key topic.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes that from January onwards, Milan and Pioli will have to be good at exploiting the market and not just the new arrivals from the winter mercato, but above all the players that have already arrived in the summer.

In the first part of the season none of the new additions from Charles De Ketelaere to Divock Origi, from Aster Vranckx to Sergino Dest and from Yacine Adli to Malick Thiaw really left their mark.

Pioli – just as he has in the past with other players – will have to create the right environment and conditions for these players to succeed given that, in their own way and at various times, they have each shown promising flashes.

Of course then it will be up to the management to try and raise the quality of the squad. Hakim Ziyech’s name remains hot and the Morocco international would be a significant upgrade in terms of quality on the right flank.

  1. Thank God that Belgium is out. CDK desperately needs a rest to reboot himself for 2023. Milan needs to maintain injury free to win Serie A. This has to be the priority.

    1. Agree, a few weeks training with the squad will help in settle in more and get established with the group in a lower pressure environment than the WC or a busy league schedule.
